Actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), announced on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, that candidates interested in contesting the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections can submit their applications from February 6. Party general secretary N. Anand said aspirants for all 234 Assembly seats can collect and fill application forms, and submit them between February 6 and 14 at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai outskirts. So far, TVK has not announced any plans for the upcoming Puducherry elections. In recent months, Vijay has sharply criticized both the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK, indirectly targeting them. He recently stated, “Neither the ‘evil force’ nor the ‘corrupt force’ should rule the State.” This hints at his party’s ambition to challenge existing powers in Tamil Nadu politics.
