Fake Form 7s Filed to Delete Voter Names in Rajasthan's Barmer Villages
February 2, 2026
Barmer district's villages in Rajasthan face a shock as hundreds of fake Form 7 applications try to delete voters from electoral lists. BJP worker Subhan Khan was stunned to learn an application sought to remove his name. Similar forms flooded Janpaliya and nearby villages like Harpaliya, Jalila, Bisaser, and Jharpa. BJP Booth Level Agents (BLAs) whose names appear on these forms denied filing them. "How can I file an application for deletion of my name when I am very much alive and residing in this place?" Mr. Khan asked.
The Booth Level Officers (BLOs), mostly teachers, like Rukhmana Ram and Fakruddin, hold over 190 such forms but haven’t taken action as voters deny signing and most are longtime residents. The forms were collected from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office, but how they reached there remains unclear. The SDM, Badri Narayan Vishnoi, said political parties filed the forms but didn’t explain their arrival at his office.
Each BLA can file only up to 10 Form 7s a day, yet hundreds were submitted under just two BLAs—Subhan Khan and Krishna Ram. Form 7 is used to request deletion of names due to death, shifting, or ineligibility but must be verified by BLOs or the Electoral Registration Officer.
The fake forms sparked anger and suspicion in these quiet villages near the Indo-Pak border. People questioned their BJP BLAs, who explained they had no role in filing these forms. Around 500 affected voters submitted representations demanding an inquiry, but officials have yet to act. Sarpanch husband Sachchu Khan confirmed memorandums were sent to higher officials with promises of inquiry still pending.
Local voters remain worried. Farmer Kaji showed proof a Form 7 wrongly claimed his newborn wife's name had been deleted as she had “shifted.” Villagers believe the targeting mainly affects a particular community. The election office promised to act per EC guidelines as this controversy unfolds amid the Special Intensive Revision exercise across Rajasthan.
