Both Houses of Parliament will take up the Motion of Thanks on President Murmu’s address today, February 2, 2026. This marks a key event in the ongoing Budget session, which began on January 28, 2026. President Murmu addressed the joint sitting, urging MPs to unite on national security, Viksit Bharat (developed India), and the 'swadeshi' campaign. She added the government is focused on social justice. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress MPs Tariq Anwar, Amarinder Raja Warring, Anto Antony, and Jothimani, will speak during the Motion of Thanks debate. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to reply on February 11. The Government has allotted 18 hours over February 2, 3, and 4 for this discussion in the Lok Sabha.
