The Telangana Government expressed deep dissatisfaction with the Central Government for overlooking Telangana's repeated requests in the Union Budget 2026-27. The total budget is ₹45.48 lakh crore, but Telangana got no mention in major sector allocations. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, "Given the massive outlay, we have expected announcements in favour of Telangana. But the State’s interests were cold shouldered despite repeated representations submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Ministers." Telangana hoped for funds for the Musi Rejuvenation project, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) development, and Metro rail, but received none. The Centre announced a ₹10,000 crore Biopharma Shakti scheme but ignored Telangana's Genome Valley and vaccine manufacturing role. Electronic component manufacturing support also excluded Telangana. Other sectors ignored include chemical parks, affordable goods manufacturing, regional medical value hubs, inland waterways, and rare earth minerals exploration in the Singareni coal belt. "It is a sort of embarrassment to note that Telangana’s name did not figure in the initiatives proposed for semi-conductor development," Bhatti Vikramarka added. Telangana aims to become a $3 trillion economy and contribute to India's Viksit Bharat vision. The State’s request for a 4% fiscal deficit limit was denied, while the Centre kept its limit at 4.3%. The Deputy CM called on Telangana MPs from all parties to meet PM Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to demand fair treatment for the State. "We are requesting our MPs to meet the Prime Minister and Finance Minister irrespective of political affiliations and seek our due," he said.
