CII Hopes Special Financial Boost for Amaravati and Infrastructure in 2026 Union Budget
February 1, 2026
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh Chapter Vice-Chairman S. Narendra Kumar expects the Central government to announce special financial support for Amaravati in the upcoming Union Budget on February 1. He said this funding is key to fast-track infrastructure development because Amaravati is emerging as a growth hub for the state. Mr. Kumar mentioned that a fund to speed up the Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Hyderabad-Bangalore industrial corridors, with ready-to-use infrastructure, is essential to attract big manufacturers. He added, "The allocation of a special fund that would facilitate the speedy development of the Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Hyderabad-Bangalore industrial corridors, inclusive of plug-and-play infrastructure was essential to attract major manufacturing units." Mr. Kumar also hopes the revised cost estimate for the Polavaram project will get approval and special funds will be allotted to develop backward districts in Rayalaseema and North Andhra. Regarding technology, he looks forward to incentives for a 1-GW hyperscale data center in Visakhapatnam and measures to encourage companies to set up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Andhra Pradesh. Currently, GCCs are mainly in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, and Mumbai. Renewable energy firms would welcome a clear policy on green finance and tax incentives. Aquaculture needs relief too, with a requested cut in customs duty on fish and shrimp feed. Support for MSMEs is also vital. Mr. Kumar said, "Measures to meet the working capital requirement of MSMEs and allowance of accelerated depreciation for MSMEs that would enable them to invest in machinery and innovations would be welcome." He added that simplifying GST and easing procedures for large foreign direct investment (FDI) will speed up projects. Overall, these steps could help Andhra Pradesh raise its Gross State Domestic Product growth from 11% to 17.5%.
