The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹12.05 lakh to renovate the house of writer and poet Gurajada Appa Rao near Vizianagaram Fort. Roads and Buildings and Municipal authorities will oversee the repair work and raise the compound wall of this heritage site. A few months ago, poet’s great grandson Gurajda Venkata Prasad and his wife Gurajada Indira appealed to MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas and Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy for repairs and better protection of the house, which was converted into a museum some years back. Following this, the government approved the funds and started the renovation. Ms. Indira expressed her thanks to the government and also requested building an auditorium next to the heritage house. This facility will allow writers and poets to hold literary events regularly.
