Sydney Woman Lanlan Yang Pleads Not Guilty to New Charges in $1.5m Rolls Royce Crash
January 30, 2026
Lanlan Yang, a 23-year-old woman from Sydney, has pleaded not guilty to two new charges related to a July crash involving a $1.5 million Rolls Royce SUV. The crash happened on New South Head Road in Rose Bay when Yang allegedly hit a Mercedes driven by George Plassaras, a driver for radio host Kyle Sandilands. Plassaras suffered severe injuries in the crash.
Yang had already pleaded not guilty to four charges, including refusing breath analysis and dangerous driving causing serious harm. Last week, prosecutors added two more charges against her: dangerous driving under the influence causing grievous bodily harm, and driving with a middle range level of alcohol in her system.
On Friday at the Downing Centre local court, Yang was excused from appearing but pleaded not guilty to these new charges. The previous week, she admitted to breaching bail conditions by not updating her address. Her lawyer, Michael Korn, successfully applied for a bail review.
Yang has drawn media attention for her wealthy background since arriving in Australia at age 14. Her barrister described her as "a very shy girl" and said he never asked about her family or nationality.
The prosecutor has requested six weeks to prepare for the new charges. The court will hear the case again in late March.
