Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) officials took strong action against illegal sewer connections on Tuesday. They disconnected unauthorized sewer lines from four apartment complexes in the Kakatiya Hills area, Division 15. Four other buildings in the same locality received notices for the same violation. The problem was discovered during a field inspection, which revealed sewage overflowing from these illegal connections onto the main road. Officials said these complexes did not get permission to link their private plumbing to the public sewer main. They warned that "illegal connections, whether sewer lines or drinking water, would attract criminal cases." HMWS&SB reminded that establishments like hospitals, hotels, bakeries, malls, and multi-storey buildings must install silt chambers as required by law. Residents are encouraged to report any illegal water or sewer connections they see in their areas to the Board’s vigilance officials immediately. The officials can be contacted at 99899-98100 and 99899-87135. This quick response aims to protect public health and keep Hyderabad’s water and sewer systems safe and clean.
