Bihar Teacher Arrested for Raising Jinnah Slogans on Republic Day

A teacher in Supaul district, Bihar, was arrested for allegedly shouting slogans in support of Muhammad Ali Jinnah during a Republic Day celebration at a school on January 26, 2026. The incident happened at Utkramit High School in the Kishanpur Police Station area. After a complaint by the school authorities, the police detained the teacher and started an investigation. Supaul SP Sarath RS told PTI, "Some objectionable slogans were raised by a teacher. A complaint was lodged with the Kishanpur Police Station. We are investigating the matter." According to Kishanpur Station House Officer Gyan Ranjan, the slogans were shouted during a school program in the morning. A video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, students can be heard responding “amar rahe (long live)” to the call "Jinnah" made by the teacher. A student in the clip also said the teacher had compared Pakistan to heaven. PTI could not verify the video’s authenticity.
