Nearly ₹2 Crore Donated to Saundatti Yallamma Temple in Belagavi

Devotees have donated nearly ₹2 crore to the temple hundi of Saundatti Yallamma temple in Belagavi district, officials said. The total counted donations valued around ₹1.99 crore, including ₹1,72,65,507 in cash, ₹15.10 lakh in gold ornaments, and ₹11.51 lakh in silver ornaments. Some foreign currency notes of minor denominations were also donated.
Three teams of about 30 officials, including bank employees and members of the Yallamma Temple Development Authority, counted the donations in three rounds starting from January 19. The temple is a major religious tourism centre in the state, attracting around three crore visitors annually.
Devotees visit the mountain top town daily, with much larger crowds on full moon days. The annual temple fair and Banada Hunnime celebrations see about three million visitors.
Siddu Hulloli, secretary of the temple authority, and Nagarathna Cholin, deputy secretary, were present during the counting. Vishwas Vaidya, MLA, told reporters the donations would be used for temple development.
Mohammad Roshan, Deputy Commissioner, said, "The development of the temple complex and Saundatti town are in full swing with works such as laying roads, drinking water supply, yatri nivas, waiting rooms, and animal shelters in progress."
