Maharashtra's Women and Child Welfare Department Minister Aditi Tatkare has ordered physical verification of beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. The move follows confusion caused by wrong answers during the mandatory e-KYC process. "For the economic empowerment of women in Maharashtra, and to improve their health and nutrition, Ladki Bahin scheme has been implemented. However, it has been observed that due to some reasons, the wrong option was selected while doing e-KYC. Therefore, as per the criteria of the scheme, instructions have been given to all District Collectors in the State to conduct physical verification of these beneficiary women at the regional level through Anganwadi workers," Ms. Tatkare posted on X. The scheme provides ₹1,500 monthly financial assistance to women from families with income below ₹2.5 lakh per year. The deadline for completing e-KYC was December 31, 2025, for beneficiaries to receive the aid directly into their bank accounts. Beneficiaries reported issues like not receiving OTPs, data mismatches, and flawed questions, which led to incorrect e-KYC responses. To ensure eligible women receive benefits, the state will now verify beneficiaries in person through local Anganwadi workers.
