At least 32 students, two drivers, and two teachers were injured when two school buses collided with a private bus on the National Highway near Rajamahendravaram early Tuesday morning. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on January 20, 2026, at Diwan Cheruvu. The buses were carrying 80 students and 10 teachers from Government Model High School, Gundlapalli, Telangana. According to East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore, the private bus ahead suddenly braked to avoid hitting a buffalo on the road. This sudden stop caused the two school buses behind to crash into it one after another. The injured were rushed to Government General Hospital, Rajamahendravaram, and their condition is stable. Police have filed a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
