On January 19, a tragic accident occurred on the Agalagurki flyover on the Chikkaballapur bypass. A private Sugama Travels bus, traveling the Mysuru–Raichur route with 28 passengers, collided with a container truck. The crash happened as the bus driver tried to overtake another vehicle. One person, the container truck driver, died at the scene. Twelve passengers on the bus were injured, with three suffering serious injuries. These seriously hurt passengers were sent to Bengaluru hospitals for better care. The others were treated at a nearby hospital. The accident caused traffic problems on the busy bypass but was cleared once the vehicles were removed. Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chowksey visited the site and led the rescue and relief work.
