Police diverted traffic on Saturday to prevent congestion on national highways after the Sankranti festival. Many people were returning to workplaces in Chennai and Hyderabad. Traffic slowed down between Vijayawada-Chennai and Vijayawada-Hyderabad near Garikapadu, Kaza, Kalaparru, and other toll gates. Many private vehicles and travel buses lined up, heading to Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Huge crowds were seen at bus and railway stations due to the festive rush. To manage this, police set up pickets and deployed additional staff on highways and toll plazas to avoid traffic jams.
