The Athani police have arrested a youth named Sahil on charges of kidnapping and attempting to convert a minor girl’s religion. Sahil, a resident of Athani, took the girl to Bengaluru about a week ago. He planned to marry her after she turned 18 on January 28. The girl's parents filed a complaint, prompting Athani police to form two teams and track the couple to Bengaluru. Preliminary investigations revealed messages about the planned religious conversion, police sources said. The minor girl has been safely rescued. The case is under further investigation.
