Security forces arrested another suspect for the bomb explosion at a fuel station in Bishnupur district, Manipur last week, police confirmed on Friday, January 16, 2026. "The 41-year-old accused was apprehended from Lamphel Sana Keithel in Imphal West on Thursday," said a senior officer. Weapons including one SMG carbine, four loaded magazines, a 9 mm pistol, two 36 HE hand grenades, and two detonators were recovered from him. Earlier, police detained a 35-year-old member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Kakching district on January 15. "The person arrested on January 15 was an accomplice of the main accused in the bomb blast," the officer added. The bomb exploded at Elidas fuel station in Moirang Thana Leikai on the evening of January 8. This attack caused all fuel stations in the valley areas of Manipur to shut down for three days as a precaution.
