The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2026 shows geoeconomic confrontation as the biggest global threat, overtaking armed conflicts and extreme weather. Globally, 18% of experts named geoeconomic confrontation as the top risk, while 14% pointed to State-based armed conflicts. In India, cybersecurity tops the risk list, followed by income and wealth inequality. Other Indian risks include insufficient public services, economic downturn, and armed conflict. The report also notes rising worries about technology, with misinformation ranked fifth and new entries like adverse AI tech effects at eighth and cyber insecurity at ninth. The Global Risks Perception Survey gathered views from over 1,300 global leaders in academia, business, government, and civil society. It was published on January 14, 2026.
