The controversy over Kerala’s ‘Vijnana Yatra – Chief Minister’s Mega Quiz’ is heating up. Teachers’ groups linked to the Opposition want the quiz stopped. The Kerala Pradesh School Teachers’ Association (KPSTA) says the timing is wrong. They say it comes as SSLC and higher secondary exams are near in March. KPSTA claims the quiz has a political agenda that adds stress for students. They also objected to quiz questions which they say cover schemes that were never implemented or withdrawn after public pressure. KPSTA warned they will resist any attempt to force students into the quiz. An Aided Higher Secondary Teachers’ Association spokesperson accused the quiz of being more a government ad than an educational tool. On the other hand, the pro-Left Kerala School Teachers’ Association (KSTA) calls the Opposition's complaints "baseless." KSTA says the quiz also included questions on schemes launched during the United Democratic Front (UDF) government, like She Taxi, Karunya, and Startup Mission. KSTA adds, "When attempts to dig up errors in questions or answers failed, claims of bias are being raised." The debate shows deep divisions among teacher groups about the politicisation of education in Kerala.
