The Killai police have booked a case against a man and his minor son for letting the boy ride a motorcycle without a license, which led to an accident. On January 1, the boy was driving the two-wheeler carelessly when he hit a 63-year-old woman walking on the road. He lost control and crashed into an electric post. Both the woman and the minor were injured and taken to Cuddalore Government General Hospital before being referred to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer). The police registered the case under four sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar warned parents not to let their children ride bikes, else they could face a fine of ₹25,000 and three months imprisonment. "Parents should avoid penal action by not allowing unlicensed driving," he said.
