A 25-year-old barber named Abdul Rehman Shah was arrested by Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police in Palghar district for playing anti-national songs related to Kashmir at his salon. Shah, originally from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has run his salon in Naigaon for years. Locals complained that he regularly played provocative songs, ignoring earlier warnings. Shah was arrested in the Chinchoti area of Vasai taluka under section 197 (1) (d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for spreading false or misleading information that threatens India's sovereignty and security. A police official said, "Police are investigating the source of the audio content and the intent behind playing such songs in a public space, especially after local residents had raised objections." Shah was produced before a court, which sent him to police custody for further investigation.
