The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Kamalkant Verma, alias ‘Uncle Ji’, from Patna, Bihar in a multi-State illegal arms trafficking case. He is the 11th accused caught. According to the NIA, Kamalkant played a key part by procuring ammunition illegally from gun houses in Haryana and other places. This ammunition was smuggled to Uttar Pradesh, then sent on to Bihar and other regions. "Kamalkant’s arrest comes days after the searches conducted by the NIA at 23 locations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana led to the arrest of four other accused, Ravi Ranjan, Shashi Prakash, Vijay Kalra, and Kush Kalra. The searches, conducted on December 4, had also resulted in multiple arms and ammunition seizures," the agency stated. This operation targets a large syndicate that spreads illegal arms across northern India. The NIA continues its probe into this major case.
