A security guard was injured late Wednesday night after unknown attackers shot at the office of BJP candidate Pawan Walekar in Ambernath, Maharashtra. The office belongs to Walekar, who is contesting the Ambernath Municipal Council polls on December 20. Around midnight, two men on a motorcycle fired three to four rounds at the office located in a crowded area. When the guard reacted, the attackers opened fire on him, causing injuries. Police have reviewed CCTV footage and set up teams to catch the suspects. The injured guard is receiving medical treatment. Security has been heightened in the area, especially with a public meeting by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis planned for the evening. BJP workers gathered at the Ambernath police station demanding quick arrests and strict action. Former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar claimed police delayed action despite being warned about suspects. Protesters staged a sit-in outside the station. Police said, "The investigation is underway and no one involved will be spared. We are verifying all leads and allegations."
