Water Supply in Kaloor to Resume on Dec 17 After Pipeline Burst
December 17, 2025
Water supply in Kaloor and surrounding neighborhoods was disrupted after a pipeline burst on Monday night, Kerala Water Authority (KWA) reported. The rupture occurred during piling work by Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), causing road flooding. A 300-mm cast iron pipe near metro pillar 540 had already burst on Friday, worsening the water supply issue. Areas affected include Palarivattom, Thammanam, Kaloor, Edappally, Ponekkara, and parts of Cheranalloor. On Tuesday, District Collector G. Priyanka held a meeting with KWA experts and KMRL representatives to review the situation. The KWA was instructed to estimate costs for relaying a 500-metre pipeline running from Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium at Kaloor to St. Martin’s Church. Officials expect the water supply to be restored by Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
