One worker died and another was critically injured on Monday evening at a steel factory in Medak district. The accident happened at 4 p.m. at M/s Agarwal Foundries in Rangaipally village. The furnace leaked molten metal onto the workers. Saransh Kumar, 35, from Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot. Rajesh Pandey, 43, from Bihar, suffered serious burn injuries covering 60-70% of his body. He was taken to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where his condition remains critical. Toopran Circle Inspector Ranga Krishna said the furnace likely developed a puncture while the workers stood nearby. This caused molten metal to suddenly gush out and spill on them. After the incident, many workers protested outside the factory. They demanded compensation for the victims and action against the factory management. Protesters claimed the company ignored safety issues despite repeated complaints about the furnace’s technical problems. Workers said they raised concerns earlier but no safety steps were taken. The police registered a case against the factory management on Tuesday morning after a complaint from the victim's family. The company announced ₹60 lakh ex-gratia compensation: ₹50 lakh from the company and ₹10 lakh from the insurance firm. Fire department officials confirmed no fire broke out and they received no emergency call about the incident.
