The Election Commission (EC) announced a thrilling update on November 27, 2025: a whopping 34,86,60,338 voter forms have already been digitised! This number is more than 68% of all voters in the 12 States and Union Territories undergoing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The total number of voters to be covered in this phase is a massive 50,97,44,423. According to the EC, the distribution of forms is nearly complete, with 50,63,50,569 forms out already, which is 99.33% of the target. But not all areas are moving at the same speed. Uttar Pradesh has digitised only 47.59% of forms, and Kerala is at 55%, lagging behind the rest. On the brighter side, Lakshadweep is shining with a dazzling 99.9% digitisation, and Goa is not far behind, boasting 89.77%. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are also charging ahead with 86.03% and 82.69% respectively. These States are setting the pace for others to follow! The enumeration phase began on November 4 and will wrap up by December 4. After that, the Election Commission will publish the draft electoral list on December 9. Then begins the important period when citizens can file claims or objections to ensure their names are correct. What does this enumeration phase involve? Booth-level officers (BLOs) have the crucial job of handing out forms, collecting filled-in forms, and uploading all the data onto the EC’s official website via special apps. This massive exercise covers 12 States and Union Territories: Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Puducherry, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. The EC’s efficient work to digitise voter data is a lively step towards cleaner, faster, and more accurate electoral rolls in India’s democracy. With just days left to finish the form filling, all eyes are on the lagging States to catch up fast!
