Young Teacher in Thanjavur Hacked to Death by Ex-Boyfriend Over Engagement News

A heart-wrenching tragedy hit the outskirts of Thanjavur on Thursday morning, November 27, 2025. Kavya, a 26-year-old teacher living in Kothattai Colony, lost her life in a brutal attack. She worked as a temporary teacher at the Government Primary School in Alankudi.
The horrifying incident happened around 9 a.m. when Kavya was riding her two-wheeler to school. Suddenly, Ajithkumar, a 29-year-old man from the same area, stopped her. Police say he was furious because he claimed they had been in a relationship for over ten years. Without warning, Ajithkumar attacked Kavya, hacking her on the head. The injuries were so severe that she died instantly on the spot.
The police from Ammapettai rushed quickly to the scene. They sent Kavya's body to Thanjavur Medical College hospital for a post-mortem examination.
During the investigation, police looked into Kavya’s phone call records. Their efforts led them to arrest Ajithkumar.
Further details reveal the terrible cause behind this violent act. On the night before the murder, November 26, Kavya told Ajithkumar that she had recently become engaged to her cousin. According to police, Ajithkumar was enraged and warned her: "he would not let her marry anyone else."
