India to Take Asia Cup Trophy Dispute to ICC After Refusing Pakistan Minister’s Hand

November 1, 2025

Drama erupted after India's big Asia Cup win when they refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan's Minister for Interior, Naqvi. The post-match ceremony turned chaotic when officials suddenly removed the trophy from the stage without any explanation. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that India sent a formal letter to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) 10 days ago, but got no reply. “We have approached ACC and we have sent a letter 10 days ago. There is no positive response. We are maintaining the same stand. Therefore, we will raise the issue at the ICC meeting, which begins on November 4 in Dubai. The trophy will come, and that is for certain, because this trophy has been won by India hands down. Only the timeline has to be fixed,” Saikia told ANI. India’s refusal to take the trophy from Naqvi shows how serious they are. Saikia explained, “If we had to take it from him, then we would have taken it on that day of the final. Our stance is evident: we are not accepting it from that gentleman. So, there is no change of stand on the part of BCCI. We are not accepting the trophy from the ACC Chairman, who is the Interior Minister of Pakistan. Therefore, it has to come but not from his hands.” Despite the chaos, India’s team found a way to celebrate! Captain Suryakumar Yadav copied his predecessor Rohit Sharma’s famous slow walk from the 2024 T20 World Cup final and lifted an imaginary trophy with his teammates, a playful nod to their huge victory. The controversy highlights the intense India-Pakistan rivalry that spilled over even after India won the title by five wickets. Now, all eyes are on the upcoming ICC meeting in Dubai, where BCCI hopes to get the trophy officially handed over — but not from Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
