Hold tight, India! Honda Cars India is gearing up for a massive makeover of its lineup. Planning to introduce 10 new car models by 2030, the highlight is a stunning seven SUVs ready to hit Indian roads. This bold move was announced by top Honda executives—Toshihiro Mibe, Toshiro Kuwahara, and Noriya Kaihara—at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show. These leaders made it clear: India is a key focus market for Honda. Currently, Honda sells only three models here, and just one is an SUV. But that’s about to change dramatically. As Takashi Nakajama, President & CEO of Honda Motor India, said, "Sub-4-metre SUVs are a major growth opportunity, and we are preparing to enter this segment." He also hinted at big investment plans ahead, showing Honda’s hunger for the booming SUV space. Not just SUVs, Honda is mixing it up with a blend of mass-market cars made locally and some premium, imported models called Completely Built Units (CBUs). These fancy global best-sellers will cost a bit more due to import duties, but are expected to thrill car lovers. That’s not all! Honda plans to shake things up with electric and hybrid vehicles. The Honda 0 Alpha electric model will be manufactured in India and exported to Japan and other Asian countries. Toshiro Kuwahara, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., shared that batteries for this car come from Indonesia and use CATL technology. Honda is placing a big bet on electric and hybrid cars, including expanding beyond the popular City e:HEV hybrid. Plus, the 0 Alpha might even feature some cool autonomous driving technology powered by Honda’s own ASIMO OS. Fancy, isn’t it? Adding some extra spice to their Indian game, Honda will also tap into their successful two-wheeler business to connect better with Indian customers and ramp up partnerships with local suppliers. This synergy could make Honda even more popular on Indian streets. With such an exciting line-up and strong investments, Honda Cars India is ready to hit the accelerator and take the Indian auto market by storm. Stay tuned for a thrilling ride ahead!
