Tripura Violence Rocks Surma: CM Manik Saha Visits Injured, Orders Action Against Tipra Motha Supporters

October 24, 2025

The serene Surma Assembly area in Tripura's Dhalai district witnessed shocking violence on October 23, 2025. After a strike called by a forum linked with Tipra Motha ended at 6 P.M., supporters of the group allegedly turned violent, attacking local residents and government officials. The aftermath? Several people, including the Block Development Officer Abhijit Majumder and Engineer Animesh Saha, were seriously hurt. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who also oversees the home department, wasted no time. He rushed to GBP Hospital in Agartala late at night to personally meet the injured victims. Expressing strong condemnation, he said, "The administration has been directed to take swift action against those responsible." The attack took place in Santirbazar, leaving a trail of injuries and fear. Some victims were admitted to hospitals right away, while others were shifted to GBP Hospital for urgent care. The situation escalated so much that paramilitary forces were deployed to control the affected areas. Senior police officers are closely monitoring the tense situation. In a surprising twist, Tipra Motha's leader and former MLA Rajeshwar Debbarma stepped forward with a call for peace. He said, "We appeal for peace and harmony between the communities." He also revealed a senior police officer was among the injured during the clashes. To keep things under control, internet services in parts of Dhalai district might be cut off temporarily, a government source shared. The exact reasons behind the sudden violence remain murky, but Chief Minister Dr. Saha didn’t hesitate to put the blame on Tipra Motha for the flare-up. As the dust settles, all eyes are on Surma and Dhalai, hoping for calm after this turbulent night. Will Tripura find peace soon? The government is on high alert, ready to act and prevent further chaos.
