NEW DELHI: This Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lit up hearts with a message as bright as festival lamps! He compared India’s bold Operation Sindoor — the swift retaliation against Pakistan for the Pahalgam terror attack — to the legendary Lord Ram’s battle against the evil Ravana. “Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and also gives us the courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this a few months ago during Operation Sindoor. During Operation Sindoor, Bharat not only upheld righteousness but also avenged injustice,” Modi wrote in his Diwali letter to citizens. The prime minister proudly declared India as a shining symbol of stability and empathy as the world faces many storms. He praised the big win against Maoists, noting, “This Diwali was particularly special because lamps were lit in many districts where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been rooted out.” With many former rebels now joining the development path and trusting the Constitution, Modi sees this as “a major achievement for the nation.” In a festive highlight, Modi joined Navy warriors aboard the INS Vikrant aircraft carrier. The sailors sang their own song praising the three armed services’ strong stand against Pakistan in the short military clash. Modi and Navy Chief Dinesh Tripathi clapped with pride, showing the nation’s gratitude to its brave forces. His letter encouraged all Indians to light lamps not just of physical light but of harmony, cooperation, and hope. "The festival teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light doesn't diminish but grows further," Modi said. He urged everyone to do their bit for India’s growth: “Let us adopt swadeshi and proudly say this is swadeshi. Let us promote the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'. Let us respect all languages. Let us maintain cleanliness. Let us prioritise our health. Let us reduce the use of oil in our food by 10% and embrace Yoga.” This year’s Diwali was also special as it was the second after the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Modi highlighted another Diwali win: thanks to GST rate cuts on many daily items and durable goods, citizens are saving thousands of crores during the “GST Bachat Utsav.” This festival is bright not only with lights but also with the glow of economic relief and hope for a stronger India. So, this Diwali, as lamps flicker and families rejoice, the nation marches onward inspired by Lord Ram’s courage, strong armed forces, and a spirit full of self-reliance!
