President Donald Trump turned heads on October 13, 2025, when he addressed the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, with a bold message about Iran. After the U.S. teamed up with Israel in hitting Iran's nuclear sites during a brief war earlier this year, Trump surprised many by saying he wants a peace deal with Iran. "They got it from one side, from the other, and you know it would be great if we could make a peace deal with them," Trump said, pointing to Tehran as a major supporter of Hamas, the Palestinian militant group. "Would you be happy with that? Wouldn't it be nice, I think. Because I think they want to." Trump made it clear the next move is Iran's. "We are ready when you are," he said with confidence. The U.S. leader also defended his controversial decision to pull America out of the Iran nuclear deal made under former President Barack Obama. "I terminated the Iran nuclear deal and I was very proud to do it," Trump stated proudly. But he didn’t close the door on friendship, adding, "Yet even to Iran, whose regime has inflicted so much death on the Middle East, the hand of friendship and cooperation is open." He shared hope about talks, saying, "They want to make a deal and we're going to see if we can do something." Trump wrapped up his message with a sweet yet powerful note, emphasizing, "Neither the United States nor Israel bear the people of Iran any hostility. We merely want to live in peace." Could this hint at a fresh breeze of hope in the turbulent Middle East? The ball is clearly in Tehran’s court now.
