Panaji: The drama unfolds as activist Rama Kankonkar wheels out of Goa Medical College after 23 long days! Sitting in a wheelchair on Saturday, he stunned reporters with bold claims about the attack on him on September 18 near a Caranzalem restaurant. Kankonkar said his attack wasn’t about any personal fight – instead, it had a deep "political connection". He even alleged the attack was planned over six months, and shockingly, done with "coordination with police"! He declared, "I am ready to share any details with a magistrate." Not sparing the police, Kankonkar slammed their role, saying there were serious lapses and he had lost all trust in them. “I have no trust left in police, in the home department,” he stated firmly. He also dropped a bombshell by doubting the involvement of Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and tourism minister Rohan Khaunte in his attack. Because of this, he insists the investigation should not be done by any agency under the home ministry. Why was he attacked? Kankonkar explained it was because he repeatedly questioned why the tribal portfolio was not given to a tribal MLA, even though there are four tribal MLAs in Goa. He accused the police of starting a "propaganda of personal enmity" right from day one, even before registering the FIR. This, he claimed, was a story cooked up by politicians. More drama: He said police hid information from him but leaked it elsewhere! During his three-hour statement recording, police never asked him if he suspected any politician’s involvement – a key detail he brought up himself, naming the "home minister". Yet, the police left that crucial part out of the initial statement. The activist revealed police haven’t updated him about the progress of the case but are busy leaking his statements. What next in this tangled web of politics and violence? The nation waits eagerly!
