Delhi’s tourism scene is about to get a colorful new charm! The Delhi government is launching special evening bus tours on cool purple electric buses, showcasing famous places like Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, Bharat Mandapam, War Memorial, Dilli Haat, and the new Parliament complex. Imagine relaxing in a nine-meter electric bus, painted purple with pictures of Delhi’s landmarks like the Signature Bridge and India Gate – you can’t miss these rolling beauties! An official from the tourism department shared, "We are planning to start evening tours from the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya to other popular sites like the Bharat Mandapam, War Memorial, the new Parliament complex, Dilli Haat, and others, for tourists. Through this, we plan to target foreigners and tourists who visit Delhi. We have hired the new nine-metre electric buses from the DTC." Why evening tours? The museum closes by 6 pm, so tours will begin after that and then zigzag across Delhi to popular spots. These guided bus rides will cost Rs 500 for adults and Rs 300 for kids aged six to twelve – a fair price for such an exciting journey! And the best part? A friendly guide will be onboard, sharing interesting stories and history of every site visited. The purple buses will stand out like stars on Delhi’s busy roads, making it easy for tourists to spot them. This idea sprouted from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s budget announcement about creating a new tourist circuit featuring the War Memorial, Kartavya Path, the Pradhanmantri museum, and the new Parliament complex. In the past, Delhi also tried the 'hop on-hop off' buses, but they hit a roadblock due to the pandemic. Officials mention that while cities abroad run these buses regularly, Delhi’s traffic may not allow that. "Abroad, the Ho-Ho buses are available at regular intervals. But in Delhi, that won't be possible considering the traffic situation," an official explained. Plans for special tours targeting markets and heritage sites with brightly colored buses were floated but experts think tourists prefer heritage monuments over mall visits. So, now Delhi Tourism is putting all its energy into these eye-catching evening tours that promise fun, learning, and a chance to see Delhi’s most famous sites with a twist! So mark your calendars and get ready for a purple ride through Delhi’s past and present, all in one evening!
