Amit Shah's Diwali Call: Say No to Foreign Products, Embrace Swadeshi to Make India Great

October 6, 2025

Panaji was buzzing with excitement as Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed in Goa with a fiery message on Diwali and Atmanirbhar Bharat. At the launch of Goa's exciting Mhaje Ghar scheme, Shah didn't just talk housing; he issued a powerful challenge to every Indian. "I have come to tell you one thing. Not only to my mothers and sisters from Goa but to all my mothers and sisters in the country," he said, "On the day of Navratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reduced the GST rate by one-third on 395 products, providing great benefits to the people. We have reduced the GST on food and drinks to zero percent and reduced it to 5% on household essentials." Shah gave kudos to Modi for a historic move saying, "Since independence, nobody was bold enough to make such massive cuts in sales tax and GST rates. Only Modi has done this. Because of the decision to cut the GST rate, the people of the country will have an auspicious Diwali." But the biggest dhamaka was his Diwali plea: "We all have to take a pledge this Diwali that we will not use any imported items," Shah declared. "In our family, we will not buy videshi products. We will not bring any videshi product into our house that is not manufactured in India unless it is necessary." He challenged the business world, saying, "If the business community decides to sell only swadeshi products and 140 crore people decide to buy only swadeshi products, we will be able to achieve the country’s dream of making India great." The Minister shouted loud for Atmanirbhar Bharat: "There is nothing bigger than atmanirbhar. We can solve unemployment by making our economy strong with the ‘Make in India’ concept, and if foreign business comes to India and starts manufacturing." Bringing it closer to home, Shah reminded people of the BJP government's achievements since 2014, "When BJP formed govt in Delhi in 2014, only Rs 2.5 lakh income tax exemption was provided to the citizens, but BJP govt has now increased the exemption to Rs 12 lakh." And the final cherry on top? "If we consider the reduction in GST and the exemption in the income tax slab, then Modi has increased the purchasing power of mothers and sisters in India," Shah said, putting the spotlight on women as the real power behind India’s economic growth. So, this Diwali, which way will you go? Foreign or swadeshi? The home minister’s message is loud and clear – choose India, choose pride, and make your Diwali truly special!
