Big news from the world of Indian cricket! The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the exciting Australian tour, featuring both the ODI and T20I formats. The big surprise? Jasprit Bumrah, India’s star fast bowler, will be rested for the three-match ODI series starting October 19. India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar cleared the air in a media briefing saying, "We have already rested him for the one-day games. When we can manage his workload, we will do that. There is always a plan. Whenever you can give him a break, you will." Bumrah has had a tough few months with back-to-back series including Tests in England and at home, plus the Asia Cup where he delivered 7 wickets at an average of 19.28. The workload management doesn’t stop with Bumrah. Agarkar explained the team is also carefully looking after other pacers like Mohammed Siraj, who bowl many overs, to avoid injuries and fatigue. In another major update, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is out of the Australia tour due to injury from just before the Asia Cup final. "For Australia, he is definitely not available," Agarkar confirmed, but hopes to get clearer rehab timelines soon. Captaincy changes add more flavor to this tour. Rohit Sharma, back from a break, will not lead the ODI side. Instead, the talented young right-hand batter Shubman Gill has been named captain with Shreyas Iyer as his deputy. Not to forget, veteran stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play after a gap since the Champions Trophy 2025 final. The ODI squad includes familiar names like KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeepers, all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar, plus pacers Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav is the specialist spinner in the mix. Meanwhile, the T20I squad looks mostly like the Asia Cup 2025 lineup, with the new addition of all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. To sum up, the Men in Blue are ready to take on Australia with a mix of fresh energy and experienced guns. With Bumrah resting for ODIs but set to return for the T20Is starting October 29, and leadership changes stirring the pot, fans can expect thrilling cricket action soon!
