IIT Madras is bringing a fresh wave to Indian employability with its exciting new program called NIPTA – National Internship, Placement Training, and Assessment. Kamakoti says, “With several thousands of students aspiring to take internships and subsequently placements in different organisations, the NIPTA initiative is very timely.” Now, students can learn from free video lectures and practice questions that shape skills in technical subjects, math, logical reasoning, and communication. The training lasts about 10 to 12 weeks and is specially curated to prepare them well. After intense learning, the real test arrives: a three-hour exam supervised live at centres all over India. Are you in your final years of engineering or diploma? Or a fresh graduate? Then this test is open for you! Passing this exam earns you a certificate right from IIT Madras. This certificate is like a bright badge showing your skill level to companies hunting for talent. Here’s the twist – companies get to see these results too! So, the best performers get a golden chance at internships and jobs. To top it all, IIT Madras plans to host a grand National Job and Internship Mela in early 2026. It could be online or in-person, connecting students directly with recruiters in a big, celebratory event. Srikanth Vedantam from IIT Madras said it perfectly: “NIPTA represents a major step forward in making employability measurable and transparent.” With this program, students get a fair shot to prove themselves, and companies get honest insights into skills.
