Kanthal, the global powerhouse in resistance materials, is turning up the heat in Hosur, India! The Sweden-based company has opened a sparkling new 1,980 sq m wire manufacturing facility right inside its existing plant there. This new space means Kanthal can now produce over three times more wire than before, meeting the growing hunger for industrial heating materials in India. Why the big boost? Robert Stal, Kanthal’s President, says it’s all about India's booming economy and a rising demand for their products. “India is an important market for us and one of the fastest growing economy,” he states. The 'Make in India' campaign also pushes the company to invest more locally. Stal also reveals that many customers outside India want to set up shop here, thanks to India's rapidly growing sectors like electronics, electric vehicles, semiconductors, and renewable energy. Kanthal arrived in Hosur back in 1988 and has steadily grown since. Now, India stands as one of their key manufacturing hubs. The new addition isn't just a bigger factory; it’s packed with high-tech, automated gear for producing fine wire with precision and speed. The plant now stretches about 20,000 sq m, with the new building adding around 2,000 sq m of cutting-edge space. On the global stage, Kanthal’s presence shines across Asia, Europe, and North America. Stal confidently says, "From that perspective, we have good resilience," highlighting their strong ability to handle worldwide challenges. The new production line boasts fully automated spooling operations, advanced die maintenance, and a smooth end-to-end process for appliance wire production. This means faster, smarter manufacturing to keep up with demand in India and beyond. With this mega expansion, Kanthal isn’t just making more wire—they’re weaving the future of industrial heating with a vibrant Indian thread, ready to serve markets from Singapore to Europe with sizzling speed and quality.
