Big news from the finance world! Abu Dhabi’s powerhouse investment firm, IHC, is stepping into India's financial scene with a dazzling $1 billion (₹8,850 crore) investment in Sammaan Capital. This marks a grand entry for IHC into the Indian financial services market. Sammaan Capital, earlier known as Indiabulls Housing Finance, is no small player. It’s an NBFC focusing on home loans, working out of 220 branches and serving customers in more than 150 cities with over 4,430 employees. Now, Sammaan Capital plans to issue shares and warrants worth ₹8,850 crore to IHC on a preferential basis. This includes 33 crore shares priced at ₹139 each, plus 30.67 crore convertible warrants in two parts. IHC will invest through its affiliate Avenir Investment RSC and is set to make an open offer to Sammaan’s shareholders. This move will help IHC gain control, potentially raising its stake up to 63.4%, turning it into a promoter. Syed Basar Shueb, CEO of IHC, expressed excitement: “India represents a core strategic market for us, and its long-term growth fundamentals are compelling.” He praised Sammaan Capital’s leadership in making home ownership and small business empowerment a reality across India. He added, “The investment reaffirms our commitment to support Sammaan Capital's next phase, including adopting AI to improve lending and credit services.” The company believes that with India's formal economy and strong Reserve Bank of India rules, NBFCs are right on track to push financial inclusion and keep India’s growth engine roaring. Sammaan’s CEO and MD, Gagan Banga, called the partnership a "game changer." He said, “A promoter of the calibre of IHC is a huge comfort to debt providers, rating agencies, and obviously improves the quality of debt capital.” He promised that Sammaan will benefit from IHC’s strong governance, technology, and vast ecosystem. Over the next 12 to 18 months, they plan to make operations slicker and more efficient, then the sky’s the limit for expansion. This partnership is more than just money—it’s a rocket boost for Sammaan Capital and a thrilling step in India’s financial sector journey!
