Get ready! The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is getting stronger and moving fast. By Thursday morning 5:30 am, it was about 250 km east of Visakhapatnam near latitude 17.7°N and longitude 85.7°E. This system is traveling north-northwest at 17 kmph. The official press release said, "The deep depression over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 17 kmph and lay centered at 5:30 am today over the same region...250 km east of Visakhapatnam." Experts say this deep depression will cross the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh between Gopalpur and Paradip during the night of October 2. The India Meteorological Department forecasted some serious weather. For districts like Srikakulam, Parvatipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Anakapalli expect moderate thunderstorms with lightning and very strong winds up to 60 kmph. Heavy rain will soak these areas. But the fun (or trouble) doesn't stop there! Other districts like Kakinada, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, and Yanam will see light thunderstorms. Lightning and gusty winds up to 40 kmph will keep everyone alert. Moderate rainfall is also expected in these places.
