Imagine turning 100 and still rocking your workout routine like a champ! That’s exactly what Mary Coroneos has done. This spirited lady credits her vibrant health to a mix of regular gym sessions and smart indulgences—her favorite treats include ice cream and root beer, but always in moderation. When asked for her golden advice on living long, Mary says, "Just keep moving, step carefully, and look where you're going." Wise words from a true inspiration! Mary’s journey started in a humble mining town where money was tight, but spirits were high. As a child, she stayed active by hiking in the woods and hunting for old artifacts. Her mom had a clever way of turning chores into fun challenges, making daily work feel like a friendly competition. "I won quite a bit, but I was the oldest, so I tried to give them a turn," she chuckles. In school, Mary shined both on the sports field and in the classroom. She played volleyball and basketball, and after graduating at 21, she earned a master’s degree in education from Temple University. Mary wasn’t just a teacher; she was a powerhouse, working full-time well into her 70s and part-time until she was 90. To keep her family afloat, she even juggled a part-time job at Dunkin’ Donuts. Today, at 100, Mary keeps hitting the gym, working with personal trainers to stay strong. But she stresses that it's not only about the body, it’s about the brain too. She urges young people to "keep their brains sharp alongside staying physically active." So, what’s the real magic? According to Mary, it’s a lively soul, a busy body, and a joyful heart—plus a scoop of ice cream now and then!
