Kerala High Court Denies Bail to IT Boss in Sexual Abuse Case, Frees Three Employees

September 12, 2025

The Kerala High Court stirred up a legal storm on Thursday! It dismissed anticipatory bail for Venu Gopalakrishnan, the IT entrepreneur caught in a high-profile sexual abuse case. However, the court gave a green signal by granting anticipatory bail to three of his employees, who were also accused but only for threats, not for sexual abuse. The case started after a former woman employee of Venu's firm filed a complaint. Interesting twist: this woman was earlier arrested in a honey-trap case filed by Venu himself! Talk about a tangled web. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, leading the Bench, made a bold observation: the offences against Venu, including rape, are "extremely serious" and appear backed by strong evidence. The court worried that Venu, with his influence, might try to mess with the investigation by tampering with evidence or pressuring witnesses. “The owner of an establishment itself is alleged to have committed such serious offences; protecting him with anticipatory bail will render the investigation ineffective,” the court warned sharply. But what about the other guys? Jacob P. Thampy, Eby Paul, and Bimalraj Haridas, all workers in Venu’s firm, got anticipatory bail. Their charges were about threatening the woman employee, and no sexual abuse was mentioned against them. The court ordered them to appear before the investigating officer on September 18 to make their statements. This case is heating up fast! While the spotlight stays firmly on Venu, his employees walk out on bail. What will happen next? Stay tuned, as justice takes its course in this thrilling courtroom drama!
