NDA's CP Radhakrishnan Gears Up for Vice Presidential Victory with Strong Allies by His Side

September 9, 2025

The big day for the Vice Presidential election in India is here! NDA's candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, is charging ahead with strong backing. Today, Radhakrishnan appointed two powerhouse allies as his polling agents — Telugu Desam Party leader and Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, along with Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha. Both TDP and JD(U) are NDA partners and have thrown full support behind him. The voting started before noon, and the final count will be done by evening. Radhakrishnan is up against retired Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy, who stands as the joint opposition’s pick. But guess what? Numbers favor Radhakrishnan big time. He is expected to grab around 427 votes, smashing the majority mark of 391 comfortably. On the other side, the INDIA bloc hopes some MPs might cross over their loyalty to tilt the scales against the NDA candidate. The INDIA bloc’s Reddy has backing from 354 MPs — 249 from the Lok Sabha and 105 from the Rajya Sabha. Bright and early, Radhakrishnan sought blessings at the sacred Shree Ram Mandir on Delhi’s Lodhi Road. He told reporters with confidence, “The elections are taking place. It is going to be a big victory for Indian nationalism. We are all one, we will be one and we want India to become 'Viksit Bharat.'” That’s a fiery statement full of hope and unity! Breaking down the votes, Radhakrishnan is expected to receive about 293 votes from the Lok Sabha and 134 from the Rajya Sabha. Parliament currently has 781 members, including 542 in the Lok Sabha (one seat vacant) and 239 in Rajya Sabha (five vacant). From just BJP, TDP, and JD(U) combined, Radhakrishnan’s vote bank is about 278 in Lok Sabha and 108 in Rajya Sabha, showing strong coalition strength. But not everyone is playing the game—parties like Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have decided to sit out and abstain from voting in this crucial contest. To add to the buzz, BJP MP Ananta Nayak said with full faith, "The NDA candidate will win the poll as the alliance has a bigger number than the Opposition." Looks like the NDA camp is ready to celebrate a grand win tonight! Stay tuned as the polls close, and the counting results roll in. Will CP Radhakrishnan make a smooth sail to the Vice Presidency? The stage is set and the nation watches with bated breath!
