Tense Tug-of-War: BJD and BRS May Skip Voting as YSRCP Backs NDA's CP Radhakrishnan

September 8, 2025

The buzz is building as the vice-presidential election is just one day away! Two important players, BJD and BRS, are playing a careful game. These parties want to keep a safe distance from both the BJP-led NDA and the INDIA bloc opposition. So, they're thinking of staying out of the battle by not voting at all. According to insiders, "their respective top leadership will take a call on the poll," but right now, "abstaining from voting would be a more appropriate option." Meanwhile, a twist in the tale comes from YSRCP, another party that isn't part of either NDA or the INDIA bloc. They have jumped onto the NDA bandwagon, declaring full support to the NDA’s candidate, CP Radhakrishnan. Party MP Ayodhya Rami Reddy told The Economic Times, confirming this unexpected move. As the numbers stand, CP Radhakrishnan is comfortably ahead with the backing of 439 MPs. On the other side, the INDIA bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy, has 324 MPs behind him. The race seems intense but the lead is significant. So, with BJD and BRS possibly sidelining, and YSRCP rallying for the NDA, the vice-presidential election promises to be an exciting spectacle. Will the fence-sitters stick to their plan or jump into the race? Stay tuned as political drama unfolds!
