T.T.V. Dhinakaran Blasts AIADMK, BJP; Rejects Palaniswami for Chief Minister Post

T.T.V. Dhinakaran, the bold founder of AMMK, landed a political jolt on Sunday in Sivagangai! He attacked AIADMK's general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP's State president Nainar Nagenthran, calling them “opportunists and autocratic”. Dhinakaran made it crystal clear that his party, AMMK, will never back Palaniswami as the Chief Minister candidate. He recalled how, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah tried to unite NDA parties and mentioned the CM would be from AIADMK, Palaniswami was shy and avoided talks with leaders like him. Dhinakaran asked, “If such was his reservation, how can we stand by him?” The AMMK chief also slammed BJP’s Nainar Nagenthran for ignoring a call from expelled AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam, who wanted to meet PM Modi during his Tamil Nadu visit. Dhinakaran said this showed Nagenthran’s true colors. “After neglecting the phone call, now Mr. Nagenthran says he will patch-up to remain in the NDA.” When asked if former BJP State president K. Annamalai’s wish pushed Dhinakaran and Panneerselvam out of NDA, he said that idea is just “wild imagination” from those who don’t know politics. He warned AMMK workers are fed up with Palaniswami’s treatment and won’t join AIADMK easily, although AIADMK may have money and a popular symbol. Dhinakaran said, “Supporting Mr. Palaniswami would be suicidal.” He remembered how relations were warm when Annamalai led BJP’s State unit, but now BJP’s current leader wrongly thinks only backing Palaniswami will win elections. Dhinakaran bluntly added, “Take it from me, this is not going to happen, and the AIADMK will lose the upcoming election.” Though he was disappointed with Palaniswami and a few AIADMK leaders, he welcomed others. For AMMK’s good, a smart decision will come soon. Even if Annamalai wants AMMK’s help for Palaniswami, Dhinakaran vowed not to “commit the mistake”. He hinted a new alliance might happen closer to the election, with AMMK as a key player. This new front, he confidently claimed, will be victorious in Tamil Nadu’s political battleground.
