Get ready for some blockbuster space-tech drama! India's space promoter, IN-SPACe, just made a bold move. On Wednesday, it handed over five cutting-edge technologies created by ISRO to Indian companies. This isn't just a handout; it’s a giant leap toward 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' by reducing the country's hunger for imports in key sectors!
The exciting event took place at IN-SPACe's hub in Ahmedabad with tripartite agreements signed between NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the recipient industries, and IN-SPACe itself. The goal? To unleash space tech magic across automotive, biomedical, and industrial manufacturing fields.
Let's dive into some shining stars of this tech transfer:
Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) Multi-Chip Module: Developed by the Space Applications Centre (SAC), this nifty tech bundles many semiconductor chips into one sleek module. Pune-based Voltix Semicon Pvt Ltd snapped this up for biomedical use, especially in RT-PCR kits, which need big production. Voltix used to rely on imports, but this transfer is making them self-reliant!
RTV Silicone Single-Part Adhesive (SILCEM R9): Created by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), this adhesive fixes solar panels in place. Now, Crest Speciality Resins Pvt Ltd from Ahmedabad owns it. Before, India had to import this glue. No more! Local availability means cost cuts and stronger indigenization.
Others who grabbed these tech jewels include Hyderabad’s Azista Composites Pvt Ltd for film adhesives (EFA 1753 and EFA 1752), Ananth Technologies for a 30W HMC DC-DC Converter developed by the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), and Pushpak Aerospace for anodizing 3D-printed Al-10Si-Mg alloy, also from URSC.
Chairman of IN-SPACe, Pawan Goenka, said, "These transfers highlight the growing capability and confidence of Indian industry. While some of these technologies will directly substitute imports, others will unlock applications well beyond the space sector."
And guess what? These fresh five agreements push the total tally to 98 Technology Transfer Agreements executed with industries, as Rajeev Jyoti, Director, Technical Directorate of IN-SPACe, proudly announced.
So, the message is clear – India's space tech isn’t just for astronauts and satellites anymore. It’s coming down to earth, fueling everyday industries and powering a future where import bills shrink and Indian innovation shines bright!
