Hold on tight, because the tech world just got a juicy twist! Earlier this year, Elon Musk didn’t just dream of buying OpenAI—he went all in with a jaw-dropping $97.4 billion offer! But wait, the mastermind billionaire didn’t stop there. He tried to sweet-talk none other than Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta big boss, to help cash the deal. Can you imagine? Two titans teaming up to own the ChatGPT creator! OpenAI spilled the beans in a recent court filing. They revealed that Musk reached out to Zuckerberg as a potential financer for the takeover. But here’s the kicker: Zuckerberg and Meta neither signed the official letter of intent nor joined the bid. In February, OpenAI’s board gave Musk’s blockbuster proposal a firm NO. Now, Musk’s history with OpenAI adds more spice. He co-founded OpenAI a decade ago with Sam Altman but later launched a rival AI company called xAI. This led to a messy legal battle, with Musk filing two lawsuits accusing OpenAI of ditching its original mission. He even asked a court to block their plan to shift from non-profit to for-profit. Talk about heavy drama! The courtroom fireworks aren’t over. OpenAI wants the judge to order Meta to hand over any information on talks with Musk. But Musk’s lawyer fired back, asking the judge to stop OpenAI from digging into Meta’s documents. The attorney claimed OpenAI is just trying to paint Musk as a troublemaker to help Altman’s startup rise and xAI win. Back when Musk made his massive offer, he pulled in some wallet-friendly friends, like Valor Equity Partners, Baron Capital, and others. Musk said he wanted to bring OpenAI back to being “the open-source, safety-focused force for good it once was.” Meanwhile, Meta insisted it had nothing to do with Musk’s plan and opposed OpenAI’s request for info. No comments from Meta or OpenAI beyond the court papers so far. The big trial will happen in March in Oakland, California, overseen by US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers. Will Musk’s dream of owning OpenAI come true? The Silicon Valley saga is far from over, and we’ll keep watching this blockbuster showdown!
