Mumbai is buzzing as the latest twist in the gripping fake encounter case of gangster Sandeep Gadoli came on Friday. Gadoli was allegedly shot dead by Gurgaon police inside a room at the Airport Metro Hotel in Andheri back in February 2016. The prosecution wanted the court to visit the exact murder spot, hoping it would help them understand the confusing versions of events and the technical evidence like CCTV footage better. However, the sessions court said a local inspection was not needed at all. The judge declared, "There is no duty cast on the court to make a local inspection simply because the prosecution or the accused applies for the same. The court can make a local inspection when it feels necessary or desires itself." At this stage of the case, which is now at the final arguments phase, the court termed the request "unwarranted" and "unnecessary." The case has been a rollercoaster. After Gadoli's death, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested several people including sub-inspector Pradhuman Yadav, constables Vikram Singh, Jitendra Yadav, and Deepak Kakaran. Even former model Divya Pahuja and her mother Sonia were caught in the web of accusations. Divya was accused of honeytrapping Gadoli, and after gaining bail, she met a mysterious death in Gurgaon as well. With all this action, the court’s decision to skip the local visit adds another powerful chapter in this dramatic saga. The court believes it can understand the location well enough from the evidence without stepping foot on the crime scene. The wait for justice and the final decision continues as lawyers prepare their closing statements.
