Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Slams Rahul Gandhi: Chaos Creator, Congress Defeated!

August 19, 2025

In a fiery showdown on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched sharp attacks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Talking to reporters during a campaign event for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, Sarma accused Gandhi of "trying to create chaos in India by any means." He added, "Sometimes in the name of religion; sometimes in the name of vote." Sarma didn’t hold back, saying, "...and in parliament, the way they (Congress) supported Pakistan, all of you have seen that. The public will surely teach a lesson to Rahul Gandhi." The CM also had some spicy comments aimed at Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi. Gogoi had claimed that Sarma juggles four phone connections, using one to talk to Congress leaders. Sarma turned this around with a grin, saying, "Calls from my two phones go to UPPL and BPF parties in BTC. The third phone goes to (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah. The last call I make is to the Congress... The Congress has accepted its defeat in the elections. After the election, the Congress will join the BJP." To break it down, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), a BJP ally, currently rules the autonomous Bodoland Territorial Region through the BTC. Another local party in the mix is the Bodoland People's Front (BPF). Switching gears, Sarma touched on the contentious topic of the ongoing eviction drives in Assam. He described the Miya Muslim community as "aggressive" and warned that "it will be impossible for Assamese people to live after 10-15 years." With a grim outlook, he said, "The work we will do in these five years and the next five years will postpone the threat to 40 years. After that, the new generation will think of Assam." The term 'Miya' originally was used as an insult for Bengali-speaking Muslims in Assam, often seen by locals as immigrants from Bangladesh. However, many from the community now proudly use 'Miya' as a symbol of defiance. The political heat in Assam is rising, with fiery words and fierce rivalry. Will Rahul Gandhi fight back? Only time will tell!
