This centre is all about creating smart, technology-driven logistics solutions that help the planet and improve supply chains. FedEx has put $5 million into this exciting venture. The centre will mix brilliant research, advanced digital tools, and industry know-how to build new-age supply chain solutions. What’s cooking at the SMART Centre? Picture projects focusing on carbon-neutral operations to fight climate change, autonomous delivery systems that might just deliver your package by themselves, EV infrastructure to power electric vehicles, predictive analytics to foresee problems, and AI systems to keep workers safe. The excitement doesn’t stop there! The SMART Centre will also spread its magic across India by offering internships, research projects, and inviting young talent to join this innovative journey. V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, sums it up perfectly: “Sound and efficient logistics define the economy of a nation, the joint efforts taken by IIT Madras and FedEx will not only solve complex problems in logistics and supply chain but also address important human resources related issues and related infrastructure.” On the other side, Kami Viswanathan, President for Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) at FedEx, said, “This Center is more than just a hub for research.
