Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an anti-terror operation in Jammu's Udhampur on Wednesday. The encounter began around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. An Army spokesperson said, "Contact with terrorists was established yesterday (Tuesday) and since then, terrorists were prevented from breaking contact. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised." The operation, named Kiya, was a joint effort by the Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF. It was launched after receiving specific intelligence input and took place in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh, J&K. The Army stated that the operation showed "seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and high standards of professionalism." "The operation concluded successfully. However, the area remains under surveillance," the spokesperson added. The police and CRPF helped reinforce security and control, preventing the terrorists from escaping. Internet services were also suspended as anti-terror operations intensified in Jammu and Kashmir.
